The Wey & Arun Canal Trust is restoring the historic 23-mile waterway that once ran from Shalford, south of Guildford in Surrey, to Pallingham in West Sussex, recreating the link from London to the sea and opening up a green corridor for leisure use and increasing biodiversity.
Volunteers run boat trips at Loxwood at weekends from April to October, and special events in summer months and holidays. The miles of restored towpaths are used by cyclists, walkers and horse riders, while canoeists, kayakers and paddleboarders take to the water. Fully restored the Wey & Arun Canal will rate among the most scenic in the country.
